New Lands

New Lands New paintings by the artist Diane Roberts New Lands brings together two projects of Diane's creative work. Diane loves to leave the four walls of her studio and experience painting and drawing in the open air this process was named by the French ' Plein Air' . The Studland Peninsular Over the past four years Diane has been working, 'Plein air', on Studland Peninsular experiencing the different weather conditions and ever changing terrain. Diane states; 'my work is not about capturing the obvious viewpoints of the landscape, but seeking to show the beauty within nature's fight back against erosion.’ Studland is an area of natural reclamation, taking land back from the sea. Natural forces have been moving the sand onto the beaches and creating this very young peninsula. Diane says "I wish to show how in this raw environment the land is being recolonised by a diverse ecosystem." Her second more recent project is literally Diane's first hand responses to India .Earlier this year Diane visited the South East of India Tamil Nadu . Her journey covered over 1600 miles over a period from early February to mid March . Many of the paintings were created 'Plein Air style' on location whilst travelling through the state of Tamil Nadu . Diane journeyed with a party of enthusiastic artists encouraging and sharing inspiration as they visited many sites of historic cultural and visual interest. The paintings on show explore a wide range of subject matter from the unique views of exotic Chettinad Villas, Hindu temples and the wonderful occupations of the amazing Indian people. Also on display is Diane's personal sketch book and journal . Diane is pioneering a limited edition of fine art Prints especially for this exhibition all prints are limited to 3 copies of each work and will be supplied framed ready for delivery.
